I thought it would be fun today to post some shots I’ve taken while visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s newest land, Pandora – The World of Avatar!
This new land opened at the beginning of summer and it’s quite something to see. I must admit that I have only seen the movie once back in 2009 when it was first released. I remember being in awe of the colors. James Cameron had a big part to play in this new land and the attention to detail definitely shows.
As you enter Pandora you are greeted by a giant tree creature that responds to your touch! It spews water and is oozing all kinds of gooey stuff!
The plant life in Pandora is truly exotic.
As you venture further into this alluring world the floating mountains become visible and majestic! The Disney Imagineers definitely outdid themselves creating this illusion.
There are two attraction in Pandora. Na’vi River Journey and Avatar Flight of Passage.
The cue line for Flight of Passage is great. Outdoors you wind your way through the mountain with great views and waterfalls. Once inside you start off in an ancient cave and then make your way into a science station where you find an avatar! I really wanted to stop and explore the science station as there are all kinds of cool experiments and creatures to see, but I’ll explore that more on another visit. As much as I hate to publicly admit it I spent two hours in the cue only to chicken out at the last second. I experienced motion sickness for the first time last year on a ride, all part of getting older I guess. Good news is a friend suggested taking Dramamine and then trying so I’m going to give that a whirl in the fall when it quiets down.
Na’vi River journey is a lovely boat ride through the night time world of Pandora. The animatronic shaman at the end of the ride is completely amazing!

Pandora at night is an other-worldly experience! Everything comes alive in the dark, including the ground you are walking on!
And of course when in Pandora you never know when you might spot at Banshee!

If you haven’t yet visited Pandora – The World of Avatar, get out there when the weather cools down and do some exploring!
