Every year Disney’s Grand Floridian showcases a display of giant chocolate easter eggs. I make it a point to visit every year, and this year I invited my friend Alison along to join in the festivities!
We started our evening with a lovely dinner at the Grand Cafe. If you have never dined here I highly recommend it. The food is fabulous, and the service is always impeccable.
We started our culinary exploration with the Artisanal Cheese Offering. I had enjoyed this starting course once before, and since Alison is a cheese lover it was a must do. The plate allows you to sample Gouda, MT Tam, and lovely Blue cheese. The cheeses are served with honey in the comb, zucchini bread, and apricot preserves. I had previously thought and Alison confirmed that the honey comb is the best honey either of us has ever tried. The whole offering is such an exciting experience of flavors!
My absolute favorite dish here is the Shrimp and Grits, however, on this evening, I decided to try something that I had not yet sampled before. I chose the sirloin and scallops, with asparaguss and potato au gratin. The steak was cooked perfectly, and I really enjoyed the plate as a whole.

Alison chose the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with a honey-sriracha drizzle which she enjoyed very much!

After dinner, we strolled the lobby with excitement admiring all the beautiful chocolate eggs on display! The eggs are crafted by Walt Disney World Chef’s every year and are made with ingredients that are entirely edible.

After perusing the lobby we decided to hop on the monorail over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort to watch the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom. The view of the fireworks from here is great, and it gives you such a different perspective!
We both had a fabulous evening, and I feel that this also shows how much there is to do and see at the Walt Disney World Resort outside of the theme parks. This was also a bittersweet night for me. I am moving to Las Vegas, just another of Billy’s Adventures, so in the near future, this was the last time I will be able to experience the Walt Disney World Resort for a while. Of course, I’ll be back!
I want to say thank you to my friend Alison for spending such a lovely and memorable evening with me!
